In this chapter, D’Souza traces the idea that all people have equal worth to Christianity, and discusses how this concept is a cornerstone in the values and government of many western societies. Pastor Dan discusses how this concept impacted the American governance, and influenced the writing of the Declaration of Independence and the US constitution, the moral legitimacy of the American Civil war and the end of slavery, and the expansion into the American west. This idea has also been adopted into the opening charter of the United Nations, and was a part of the rationale to prosecute those involved with the Nazi death camps of WWII.
