Lent 2 – Suffering and the Path to Self-Discovery

Lent 2 - Suffering and the Path to Self-Discovery

Summary: In today’s Old Testament lesson, Abraham is asked to believe something that does not seem possible. Likewise, in our Gospel reading Jesus asks the same of his disciples. We need to make a choice to follow Jesus. We are also asked to make choices in our lives that reflect Christ’s love. The cross we are asked to bear may come in the form of offering support to others. When we are called upon to support people in the hardest times of their lives, sometimes we just need to listen and provide love. When people feel love and compassion, they are pointed to the love God has for them, which can make an enormous difference in their lives.
