The Both-And Life: Welcome and Wild

Speaker: Pastor Lauren Chambers

Sunday October 4 – Pentecost XIX

This is a short recording of our sermon from Sunday October 4th. Our sermon text for this week comes from John 1:1-5. This week, Pr. Lauren begins a new sermon series: The Both/And Life. This series is an exploration of contrasts.

We often think of faith as a ladder to climb, assuming we must shed our flaws before we can claim our holiness. But the core of the gospel, and the heart of the Lutheran tradition – presents a beautiful, messy paradox: we are simul iustus et peccator, simultaneously saints and sinners. This five week series explores how God’s grace meets us exactly in the tension of our dual identities, working through our brokenness rather than waiting for our perfection.
