Advent 4: A Model of Faith
Summary: Today’s sermon reviews Luke’s account of the Annunciation to Mary. Luke reveals that nothing is too wonderful for God. Luke also assures us that what we are in the world is irrelevant to God’s love for us. In this gospel story, Mary demonstrates great faith. Through faith, we can receive the divine gifts that Jesus brings: hope, love, mercy, forgiveness, renewal, strength, and the promise of eternal life. Mary provides us with a model of what receiving God through faith should look like. Like Mary, we too are favored because through faith Christ is born in our hearts.
