God’s Word Accomplishes What it Promises

God's Word Accomplishes What it Promises

Summary: The Gospel of Mark tells us that Jesus proclaims that the Kingdom of God has come near. What does this mean? When he refers to the kingdom of God, Jesus is talking about the power of God to redeem people from the power of sin and evil. Jesus’ entire ministry is about God’s kingdom arriving to free people of the power of sin. Jesus has the authority to reveal who God is because he came from God. In today’s Gospel lesson, Jesus uses his healing powers to show that the Kingdom of God has come near through him, God’s son. He has come to earth to reveal who God is for us, and to show us that the restoration of human beings to full and complete health and wholeness is God’s mission.
