Honoring the Holy Name
Our sermon series on The Lord’s Prayer continues this Sunday with Pastor Kevin’s message, “Honoring The Holy Name” (Mark 10:17-27). Building off of last Sunday’s message in which we reflected on the God to whom we pray and who are who are praying, this week we will notice that no where in The Lord’s Prayer are we encouraged to pray, “Lord, make us holy” but instead we pray “Hallowed be your name.” We see this contrast perfectly illustrated in Jesus’ encounter with the rich young ruler in Mark’s Gospel. He had done everything he could to “inherit” eternal life, but still found himself lacking. The prayer Jesus teaches us to pray is all about having fellowship with the Father and trusting in God’s work in our lives. Join us as we explore in depth what it means to pray, “Hallowed be your name.”
