Jesus Christ is Present in Our Faith

Jesus Christ is Present in Our Faith

We welcome back our guest pastor for this Sunday, Rev. Dr. Ted Peters. Pastor Ted is an American Lutheran theologian and Emeritus Professor of Systematic Theology and Ethics at Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary and the Graduate Theological Union. In addition to his work as a theologian and educator, he is a prolific author and editor on Christian theology, Public Theology, and the intersection of science and religion, bioethics and space ethics.

The Gospel lesson for this Sunday is from John 6:56-69. This passage explores several themes including the role of Jesus as the bread of life and the need for nourishment from God. Jesus refers to himself as the bread of life, a metaphor for spiritual nourishment. He says that he is the only source of true hope, joy, and satisfaction in life, and that those who feed on him will live forever. We need nourishment from God that can only come through belief. The Gospel implies that we need to integrate the body and blood of Christ into ourselves, and that if we come to him, we will never be hungry or thirsty again.
