Rejecting Jesus, Do We?

This Sunday’s message is a sobering one, “Rejecting Jesus: Do We?” from Luke 4:20-30, a continuation of last Sunday’s Gospel text. One minute the people of Nazareth seem to be proud of their hometown boy, Jesus, and by the end of the text, they take him to the edge of town and attempt his assassination. What created this radical shift? Jesus challenged the religious and political views of the folks in his hometown, seemingly on purpose.
In today’s overcharged religious and political divisions in America, how do we filter out and process our own points-of-view in light of the Person and work of our Lord Jesus Christ? This is an invitation to see Jesus from a new angle, and a challenge to question our own beliefs, characterized by the phrase, “Don’t Believe Everything You Think.”
