The Assurance of Jesus’ Presence
Good Shepherd Sunday
The gospel lesson for today is from John 10: 11-18. Jesus’ presence for us is illustrated in this familiar passage.
Jesus is saying to his disciples (both then and now to us) that he is the good shepherd. There’s no doubt, no question in his voice—just bold and clear, “I am the good shepherd.” And what does this good shepherd do for his sheep, his followers, his disciples? He lays down his life for them.
