Deliver Us From Evil
This Sunday is our penultimate sermon on The Lord’s Prayer, “Deliver Us From Evil” (Ephesians 6:10-20). C. S. Lewis says there are “two equal and opposite errors” in our contemporary views about devils: 1) not believing they exist; and 2) having an unhealthy interest in them. He says he believes in devils because he believes in angels, and that devils are simply fallen angels. Jesus teaches us to pray that God will guide us away from evil if we but ask. Each week in this sermon series we have seen Jesus encouraging us to pray, with the net effect being we would learn to trust God more. Come and join us this Sunday as we hear more about the inclusive prayer Jesus teaches us to pray, join our hearts and voices together in worship, and receive the blessed Sacrament when Jesus himself again comes to us.
