Between the Times
The Day of Pentecost
Today we commemorate the descent of the Holy Spirit on the disciples. They were transformed from a group of people living in fear and confusion to people who proclaimed and spread the gospel with boldness and courage. Obviously, the Holy Spirit effected this change in their hearts.
How did this happen to the disciples? Can this happen to us? The Spirit can change our lives at times when we are losing our spiritual strength and our faith in God’s promises. While we don’t have the ability to do this by our own strength and power, we can pray that God will send the Spirit into our hearts and thereby experience spiritual renewal.
