Growing in Faith
This week’s sermon is based on Paul’s letter to the Philippians. In this passage, Paul speaks of his own spiritual journey-of how he found a deep sense of joy when, instead of trusting in his own personal achievements, he entrusted his life to Christ and what he has done for us. He is not downplaying achievements as if they are not important. Rather, he is saying that achievements should not function as a means of earning a sense of acceptability either to God or in the context of the culture.
Our hearts long for a source of love that is higher than this. Paul found that well-spring of love in Christ, living in his heart through faith. This story of Paul’s conversion from Pharisee to an Apostle for Christ is a model for our own spiritual journey.
