October 11, 2020 – The Final Victory
Summary: Why do bad things happen to good people? Philosophers have offered many different theories on the answer to this question over the ages. Christianity defines “good people” as not those who commit good deeds, but rather those without sin. This is an impossible standard for us to meet. The parable in today’s gospel reading from Matthew illustrates how difficult it is to give up our old ways, and submit to God’s standards. However, because God sacrificed himself to us through Jesus, we have an invitation to eternal life in heaven.
