Stewardship = Discipleship
This message is based on the Gospel text from Mark 10, verses 17-31.
“In this Sunday’s text, Jesus has a conversation with a wealthy man who is inquiring about how to inherit eternal life. He is bright, faithful and sincere. Despite everything that is right and exceptional about this seeker, when Jesus suggests that his possessions and wealth have come to mean too much to him, this seemingly becomes a hurdle too great to clear. As we seek to follow Jesus, what is the role of wealth and possessions in our lives? This question defines a lot about our own discipleship.
This is NOT a “the church needs your money” message. We are invited and challenged to make priorities in our lives that reflect our faith and purpose. Best of all, this is a sermon with a surprise ending. Come and join us this Sunday, and read Mark 10:17-31 to prepare to hear what God might be saying to us.
