The Circle of Love
Holy Trinity Sunday
On Trinity Sunday we consider what it means to confess a Triune God. The revelation of the Trinity is accomplished by the coming of God himself into human history. God is not a single figure scowling down at us from the heavens. God is a family-Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – and when a family loves each other, love surrounds you, embracing you.
The Apostles Creed guides our understanding of the Triune God. It has three articles, one for the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Each article defines the role of each in terms of God’s relationship to us. When we put all this together, it gives us a vision of why the world and our lives in it are the way they are. An understanding of the creed enables us to se and understand God and why God acted as he did.
